Help and answers for Flashback

Flashback is a gameplay clipping tool for standalone Meta Quest headsets, with a companion application for iPhone. If you need help, or have a question or suggestion, please contact us at flashbackvrsupport@gmail.com. We aim to respond within a few business days.

1. Getting Started

Install both applications.

Install Flashback on your Meta Quest headset, and install the Flashback companion application on your iPhone.

Join the same Wi-Fi network.

Connect the headset and the iPhone to the same Wi-Fi network. The two applications communicate directly over that network.

Connect the phone to the headset.

Open Flashback on the headset and start a session. The panel displays the headset's address. Enter that address in the iPhone application's settings to link the two.

2. Frequently Asked Questions

The phone will not connect to the headset.

Confirm that both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network, and that the address entered in the iPhone application matches the address shown on the headset panel exactly.

Voice activation is not responding.

Make sure microphone and speech recognition permissions are enabled for the iPhone application, and that voice activation is turned on. If you are using Bluetooth earbuds or a headset, confirm they are connected. Speak the full command, "Flashback, clip that."

Clips are not appearing on my phone.

Keep both devices on the same Wi-Fi network with the headset application running. New clips transfer to the phone automatically within a few seconds.

What is the difference between the two modes?

Performance Clipping continuously buffers recent gameplay, so you can save the preceding minutes at any time. Quality Clipping marks moments during a standard Meta recording and automatically produces full-quality clips, at up to 60 frames per second, from that recording after your session.
