Flashback

Privacy Policy

Effective August 12, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how the Flashback application handles information in connection with the Flashback clipping tool for standalone Meta Quest headsets and its companion application for iPhone. Flashback is designed to operate entirely on your own devices. We do not collect, transmit, or sell personal information, and we do not operate any servers, online accounts, or analytics systems.

Summary

1. Information We Collect

We do not collect personal information. Flashback contains no analytics, advertising, or third-party data-collection software. Because no information is transmitted to us or to any third party, we do not receive, store, or have access to your data.

2. Information Processed on Your Devices

Although we do not collect information, the application processes certain data locally in order to function.

Gameplay clips.

Clips recorded on the headset are stored in the headset's local storage. When the iPhone application is used on the same Wi-Fi network, clips are transferred directly from the headset to the phone over the local network. Clips are not uploaded to us or to any third party. Sharing a clip beyond your devices occurs only when you choose to do so using your device's standard sharing features.

Microphone and voice activation.

If voice activation is enabled in the iPhone application, the application listens for the command "Flashback, clip that." Speech is processed on your device using Apple's on-device speech recognition. The audio is used solely to detect the command and is not recorded, stored, or transmitted. If you elect to include microphone audio in a clip on the headset, that audio is recorded only into the clip file stored on your device.

Local network communication.

The iPhone application communicates with the headset application directly over your local Wi-Fi network for the purposes of checking status and transferring clips. This communication remains on your network and does not pass through any external server.

Application settings.

Preferences such as clip length and the headset's network address are stored locally on your device. The application has no user accounts and no sign-in, and it transmits no information for these purposes.

3. Data Retention and Deletion

All data created by the application resides on your devices. You may delete clips at any time from within the application. Uninstalling the application removes its locally stored data in accordance with your device's standard behavior.

4. Data Security

Because your data does not leave your devices, its protection is governed by the security features of those devices. We recommend keeping your devices updated and protected with a passcode or equivalent measure.

5. Children's Privacy

Flashback is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from any individual.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any revised version will be posted at this address with an updated effective date.
